Dr. Stephen L. Murphy joined Morrison Dental Group in 1996 after retiring from the United States Navy. Dr. Murphy and Dr. Morrison served together in the Navy while stationed in England, and they have remained good friends and colleagues ever since. Dr. Murphy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the practice, as well as a great deal of compassion, which is much appreciated by his patients.
Dr. Murphy is a graduate of Sacramento State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He attended the University of California Santa Barbara Masters of Scientific Instrumentation Program and is a graduate of the University of California Los Angeles School of Dentistry. He served as a naval aviator and as an active duty Naval Dentist Officer both ashore and afloat. Dr. Murphy attended the Advanced Clinical Program in General Dentistry at the Naval Regional Dental Center in Norfolk, Virginia. He also attended Command and Staff College at the United States Marine Base in Quantico, Virginia.
Dr. Murphy is on the Board of Advisors for Olde Towne Dental Clinic, a volunteer dentist for Physicians for Peace in the Dominican Republic, and a volunteer at Give Kids A Smile.
Dr. Murphy is married to Marcia. They have 4 children, Kelly, Heather, Eric, and Sean, all of whom are married. He is active in the community. He enjoys classic British car restoration and is an avid cyclist.
