Dr. David J. Maharty strongly believes in helping others whenever possible and enjoys boosting patients’ self-confidence. That’s why the dental field is a perfect fit for him. Dr. Maharty joins the MDG family with over 20 years of experience and has been able to see how dentistry can change lives for the better. He specializes in dental implants and enjoys seeing his patients have the smile they have always wanted.
Dr. Maharty grew up in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and was recruited in high school to play football at the college level, but chose academics over sports. He has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania and then went on to the Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia. He is a member of the Virginia Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Peninsula Dental Society.
Dr. Maharty enjoys being a member of a close-knit community that offers many opportunities for his children. He is married to Kelly, his high school sweetheart from GAR Memorial HS. Together they have three daughters, Morgan Elizabeth, Madison Lynn, and Maleah Audriana. The family has two dogs: Keda, a Goldendoodle, and Khloe, a Golden Retriever rescue. In his spare time, Dr. Maharty enjoys going on vacation with his family, attending sporting events, watching college football, tailgating, coaching softball, traveling, and spending time with friends.
The Maharty family originated a Sports Scholarship Memorial Fund at Avalon Women and Children’s Shelter so that the children there can play recreational sports. The family believes in helping others and giving children the opportunity to grow physically, mentally, and emotionally through team sports.
