Dr. Ben E. Wiggins, Jr. is a life-long resident of Portsmouth, Virginia, where he has enjoyed a very active dental practice since 1964. From 1985 until 2016, he maintained an additional office in the Deep Creek area of Chesapeake, which he likewise enjoyed.
Dr. Wiggins is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Dentistry, including an honorary election to Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He received specialized training while serving an internship at Walter Reed Army Hospital, followed by chairing the crown and bridge department at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. After three years in the United States Army, Dr. Wiggins returned home to open his private practice.
He is a life-member of the Tidewater Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association and the American Dental Association. He is also a member and regular attendee of the Portsmouth-Suffolk Dental Study Club. He is a charter member and past president of the Churchland Rotary Club and served for many years as secretary-treasurer of the Portsmouth Assembly. Dr. Wiggins is a member of Monumental United Methodist Church, where he has served on the Board of Trustees and the Endowment Committee.
